Coverage for the Fun Things in Life

Whether you are hitting the open road, exploring off the beaten path, or cruising the water, the toys in your driveway each need coverage of their own. We write recreational vehicle insurance in Texas from our League City office, and all three of our agents quote every one of the state's 254 counties, so where you keep the boat or the camper does not decide who can help you.

We are an independent agency, which means we compare several carriers instead of selling one company's product, and we re-shop your policies at renewal rather than letting them roll. Owners who bring us a boat premium that has climbed a little every year often end up paying meaningfully less for the same coverage once we take it to market.

What Does Recreational Insurance Cover in Texas?

A standard auto policy will not cover a boat, an RV or a four-wheeler, and a homeowners policy only reaches so far. Recreational coverage splits into four lines, and most households we write carry more than one of them.

Boat & Watercraft Insurance

Covers boats, jet skis and personal watercraft for physical damage, liability, theft and storm damage, whether the boat lives in a slip on Galveston Bay, on a lift at Lake Conroe, or on a trailer beside the house. Lenders and marinas usually want proof of coverage before the boat goes in the water. Our boat and watercraft coverage page walks through limits, lay-up periods and what a marine policy actually pays for.

Golf Cart Insurance

Covers carts in the master-planned and waterfront neighborhoods around League City, Friendswood and The Woodlands for liability, collision, theft and damage to the cart itself. A homeowners policy rarely follows a cart past your property line, which is where a cart spends nearly all of its time. See how golf cart insurance in Texas is written and what it costs to add.

RV & Travel Trailer Insurance

Covers motorhomes and towable travel trailers for collision, comprehensive, liability, roadside assistance and the belongings inside. A motorhome carries its own auto liability because you drive it; a towable borrows liability from the truck pulling it but has no physical damage coverage of its own until you buy it. Our RV and travel trailer insurance page explains the difference and what full-timers need on top.

ATV & Off-Road Vehicle Insurance

ATV insurance in Texas covers four-wheelers, dirt bikes, side-by-sides and UTVs, and it is the one category owners most often assume is already handled somewhere else. Off-road vehicle insurance in Texas is written as its own policy, and a complete one includes:

  • Physical damage to the machine from collision, rollover, fire or flood.
  • Theft, which is the claim we see most often on off-road vehicles, especially ones stored on an open trailer.
  • Liability for injury or property damage you cause someone else while riding.
  • Medical payments for you and your passenger, no matter who was at fault.
  • Scheduled coverage for accessories such as winches, racks, lift kits and aftermarket wheels.

A homeowners policy will generally cover an ATV while it sits on your own property and stop the moment it leaves. Trail riding at a park, on a lease, or out on a friend's acreage is off-premises riding, and that is where the machine actually gets used. Texas does not require insurance on most off-road vehicles because they are not registered for the road, but a lender on a financed machine will.

Questions We Get About Insuring the Whole Driveway

  • Does my auto policy cover my travel trailer in Texas?

No. A standard Texas auto policy does not cover a travel trailer, a motorhome, a boat or an ATV. Your auto liability may extend to a towable trailer while it is hitched behind your truck, but nothing on that policy pays to repair the trailer itself if it is hailed on, stolen or jackknifed. Physical damage on a towable is bought separately.

  • Do I need insurance for a side-by-side in Texas?

Texas does not require insurance on most off-road vehicles, including side-by-sides, ATVs and dirt bikes, because they are not registered for street use. If the machine is financed, the lender almost always requires physical damage coverage until it is paid off. Coverage is also worth carrying on a paid-off machine, since a homeowners policy generally stops covering it once it leaves your property.

  • Who insures ATVs and golf carts in League City, TX?

We do, from our office at 100 Perkins Ave Suite C in League City, and we quote both across all 254 Texas counties. Off-road vehicles and golf carts are written as standalone policies rather than endorsements on a home or auto policy, so they can be quoted whether or not your other coverage sits with us. Call (936) 445-6701 with the year, make and model and we will compare carriers.

  • What does boat insurance cover?

A Texas boat policy typically covers physical damage to the hull and motor, liability, theft, storm damage and uninsured boater protection, with options such as emergency towing and fuel spill cleanup. What you need depends on where the boat is kept and how far offshore it goes. The full breakdown is on our boat insurance page.

  • Can I bundle boat and RV insurance with my home policy?

Often, yes. Many carriers apply a multi-policy discount when your recreational vehicles sit with the same company as your home and auto, and most of the owners we write already carry home insurance with us. We quote it both ways, bundled and standalone, because bundling is not automatically the lower number.

  • How much does recreational vehicle insurance cost in Texas?

It depends on the type of vehicle, its value, how and where you use it, and the limits and deductibles you choose. A jet ski and a Class A motorhome are not in the same range, and a cart driven inside a neighborhood rates differently from one crossing a public road. Send us the year, make and model of each one and we will shop it and come back with real numbers.
